There are many different ways to change the color of wood and the most common is by coating the wood with some sort of a color stain or even a color dye but you can also change the color of wood by using simple household products that change the color of wood by reacting to the tannin in the wood.
Anyone who has ever made wine, especially from scratch, will have heard of tannin, which is just a mild acid that is contained in many wood species of plant, including grapes and vines. In winemaking the tannin is added as a power to enhance the taste of the wine.

In woodworking, we can use that same tannin in wood to change the color of the wood by altering it chemically and allowing the tannin to change color during the process.
Table Saw Riving Knife / Splitter Set-up and Alignment. Prevent Table Saw Kickback.

From time to time, I like to stop all jobs in the workshop to fine tune. This could mean sharpening tools or it could be repair or re-adjusting things to make them work better. Recently I had a good look at the where the Riving Knife and the Splitter are attached to my table saw. What I noticed is that in the lower part of the attachment block there appeared to be some bolts that looked like, if they were taken off, I might be able to fix the positioning and alignment of my riving knife and splitter.

I don't use my Riving Knife very often but I DO use my splitter a lot because it helps with the dust extraction and keeps the shop cleaner and more dust free. Every time I have to take the splitter off, it annoys me that the block it sits in is out of alignment and I have to use shims in order for it to work. I paid a lot for this saw and that one thing should have worked better than it does. I should not have to use shims that fall off into the base of the saw every time I have to take the splitter off to use a table saw jig or cut vertical wood, so it's time to fix this ...
Bandsaw Blade Repair - How to Solder Bandsaw Blades

I have only broken 3 bandsaw blades in my lifetime so haven't had much opportunity to fix them, but I decided to make an exception in this case because the blade I had was still quite new and still very sharp to it was a good chance to see if I could be fixed the blade which snapped at the weld joint. These smaller blades for my little 12 inch Delta bandsaw which doesn't use a lot of tension on the blade so I think I have a pretty fair chance of getting this to work.

I know many of the bandsaw blades appear to be spot welded together and I don't happen to own a spot welder by I have read of people who have solder the ends together with good results, so that is what I am going to try.
Making a Mitre Sled Jig for the Table Saw

Cutting Mitres on the table saw is not trick ... getting them accurate is a bit more challenging, especially if you are doing things like picture frames. I seem to make most of my angle cuts on the table saw at 45 degrees, which by chance is the same angle as picture frame sides, so this jig will do double duty for me.
The one thing I should add here in terms of making picture frames, getting the 45-degree angle is only half the battle, the other thing that is crucial in making picture frames is that each opposing side of the fame needs to be EXACTLY the same length or the corners will never line up.

This jig will make accurate 45-degree angles, and if you want to make picture frames you can use the stoppers to make sure the horizontal pieces and the vertical pieces, however long they are, can be cut at exactly the same length.

Lazy Susan's have got to be the handiest things for serving devices whether stand-alone or on a dining room table, a picnic table or on a snack table. The only real problem is that some of them can take up so much room ... but there is a way to economize on the size without giving up on the amount of serving space and that is my making another level to them.

I wasn't sure what kind of center I wanted for the upper level so decided to make a prototype before making a final version. My first version had a round center column which I did not keep on so wanted to try this style of having simple square wood, but with an arc cut into them to accommodate later bowls and serving dishes ...

Wood gets slippery when glue is applied to it and sometimes trying to tame a wet slippery wood glue up can be messy and frustrating. The best way to tackle this problem is to assume every glue up will be slippery ... and almost all of them are, and prepare the wood in advance to prevent it from sliding out of place on you with several techniques.
Watch it on Youtube: https://youtu.be/AA3TviThJW4
The first thing to think about in helping to prevent slipper glue-ups is ... What is my margin of error? that means, do you have any extra wood on your glue up that is going to need to be cut off later and where exactly is that wood. Once you know this you can use any one of a few different anti-slip ideas ...
