Understanding Japanese Pull Saws seems to be a bit mystery, but it really isn't. The first thing to keep in mind is that wood is always wood. You Rip wood along the grain or you Crosscut it across the grain and with that basic knowledge, that is how ALL woodworking saws work, including Japanese Pull Saws.

There is a wide selection of saws available, but the one I currently like are the Suizan brand, Japanese Pull Saws, actually made in Japan. I like these saw because they have a nice variety of saws and because most of the saws can be retrofitted with replacement blades.

I am so happy with this Table Saw Outfeed Table, it was a major upgrade to my saw and allows me to quickly flip up the outfeed table when I need it and drop it down when not in use to give me more room in my shop. The only thing that is a bit of an inconvenience is having to feel around underneath the outfeed table to find the releases every time I want to drop it down ... so, time to make a quick release mechanism.

The nice thing that I liked about these brackets was that the release is at the very tip of the arm, which in this case is also going to make it a bit easier to add the quick release mechanism.

I love it when viewers send me THEIR woodworking Tips, Tricks, and Hacks ... for me to share with everyone. That's what makes a "woodworking community" which is what I have been working toward since the inception of this website almost 20 years ago. In all these tips and tricks that I publish and video, many, many viewers tell me that there is almost always at least one "nugget" in the list that they didn't know about that they are going to implement.

The first one on this episode's list is from Michael who has shared a great way to screw in eyelet screws, and at least for me something I struggle with often, like when I am making picture frames and the final step is to install the wire on the back of the frame for hanging ... do you think I can hold on to those tiny eyelets?
Drying Wood with Dehumidifier Wood Kiln - How to Dry Wood

For me, one of the pleasures of woodworking is being able to dry your own wood. Not only does it save you money, but I also enjoy being involved in the process. The whole purpose of drying wood is to get the moisture content of the wood down to a point where the wood is more stable, and often somewhere between 8 and 14 percent.
There are a few different ways of drying wood. Stacking your wood up and letting the air flow around the wood is, of course, the oldest, and still very popular today, but if you want to accelerate the drying process you could use solar, dehumidification and high heat drying such as with a kiln. All of these are methods that work when drying wood.

Outdoor air drying is a very common, and of course the cheapest way of drying wood, but for most of us, air wood is still too wet for furniture making and the longer it dries out o doors, it does not get any drier. If you are building fences, sheds, houses and other similar forms of construction, outdoor air-dried wood is just fine.
