This inexpensive and jig (that can often be made with off-cuts of wood) is the handiest jig you might have in your shop for aligning all sorts of woodworking projects and keeping them square, which of course makes them that much easier to work with.
Wood projects that are out of square and hard to work with, and for the woodworker, often disappointing to continue to work with or sell and there are only 2 things that contribute to out-of-square projects ....
STOP Making Out-Dated Table Saw Sleds, Do This Instead

It's always easier to carry on doing things the way we always do, and only when things go wrong or when we get fed-up with things that aren't working right, are awkward or dysfunctional ... do we make changes, such is so with my Table Saw Sled.
I loved to hate my table saw sled, it was well built, and accommodated a variety of attachments (which I seldom used) and the main thing I needed it for was cross cutting wide boards that my sliding mitre saw could not cut. The problem with this, is just the weight of the sled would make me cringe at even the thought of dragging it out... 26 pounds of raw wood and plastic ...
Petrified Wood Door Pulls on Whiskey Cabinet

I do not ever recall ever seeing any kind of cabinet hardware made from Petrified Wood. I'm sure it exists somewhere, but must be very rare. I decided to make door pulls from petrified wood I collected a long time ago, what I wasn't prepared for was the whole new experience in learning and just how much work it would be.
I encountered may challenges with this project right at the start, and the first one was, what design did I want to make, because the would dictate what size the petrified wood pieces would need to be. I finally stumbled upon the semi angled appearance that I spotted somewhere, the thought it might be one of the easier kinds of pull, with not too much cutting and polishing involved.

Here's a project I have been wanting to build for a long time. It's called many things, a Whiskey Cabinet, a Wine Cabinet, Collectables Cabinet and even a Library Cabinet, so it clearly has lots of uses and the one I am making will be able to adapt to many different uses simply by changing the inside shelving configuration which is easily done
by using a "pull-out" system, so any kind of shelving unit can be inserted according to use. This unit is what is known as a "floating top" because at first glance, the top appears to be floating above the legs.

Who doesn't love new tools?? I often think that is at least half the fun of woodworking, all the neat tools we get to use, purchase, and figure out. I guess it's the "mechanics" of woodworking, and for me, even re-purchasing newer versions of a tool I may already have can also be exciting because often, there are new tool features.

And such was the case with the "MINI" clamping squares I picked up at Lee Valley recently. I already have a larger set for furniture and cabinet making, and I love how much easier and more accurate they are to work with .. but how about something for BOX Making ...
