Table saws get used so often in the woodwork shop that it's important to make them convenient to use because when we don't, very often people can take short-cuts, and that when accidents can happen, so I am a big fan of making things safe, easy and convenient.

Of all the workshop tools, the table saw is one that can do some serious harm in the blink of an eye, so the very, very first safety rule around table saws and most power tools, is to NEVER rush what you are doing and always stop and take a moment to think about what you are going to be doing.

I think my Oscillating tool is over 10 years old now, and I bet it doesn't have 3 hours of work on it, but I wouldn't have traded it for the world. I bought at the time I was installing new vinyl windows in my home and embedding them into the old aluminum frames so that I would not have to have the stucco siding re-done. It saved me thousands, the windows went in flawlessly and the whole reno easily passed the energy audit.

The oscillating tool was used to cut away the aluminum rails on the old windows so they were flush, right into the corners, so the new windows were a good fit going in and without it, I would have spent countless more hours trying to cut and trim that aluminum away ...

Tree Felling & Milling My Own Lumber with a Portable Sawmill

I watched for 3 years as the Red Alder next to the laneway at the back of my property slowly died. I could see it had been hit my machinery going up and down the lane, and too wide for it and hitting my tree. Now it's time to take the poor tree down because it is now a hazard to all those people who walk up and down the lane as I see dead branches on the ground that have fallen off.

Anyone who might have got hit by one of these could get seriously injured or worse, so time for the tree to go, but rather than haul it away, I think it will still make some good lumber ...
