A short time ago I was informed of yet another YouTube woodworker who was injured using their table saw. I am always sorry and frustrated when I hear about these events because I have spent SO MUCH TIME talking about table saw safety and most of it can be avoided by easy simple things the operator can do.

Custom Steel Top Upgrade for Wood Router Table

Here's a project I have had on my mind for a long time. Upgrading my wood router table to some sort of a new flat table. My existing table is one of those that is made from MDF, which when new is flat, but over time many of them develop a bow or dip in the middle. This appears to be partially due to the constant weight of the router on the MDF ...

but is also likely caused by the fact that the MDF does absorb moisture (like all wood products) and in the process it makes the wood or in this case MDF, expand. Since the MDF cannot expand on the top because of the glues on arborite or plastic laminate, the MDF can only bow upwards on the sides, which is what can cause the center to drop. In my case over a sixteenth of an inch.

First off is a tip I should be using more often, and now that I have a stronger magnet hook, maybe it will work for me.

Circling back to the Wobble Blade or Adjustable Dado blade as it is more accurately called, and because of its small diameter or 7 inches, it lends itself to making things that most other blades cannot do ... like coves and bowls, not to mention decent dados.

My attempt at making these bowls, was actually for making concaves for nesting boxes for cavity-nesting birds, and a video that I first made about 12 or so years, then another update a few years after that where I used the fence on the table saw as the anchor ... which worked for that saw, but for my newer saw it was not quite as convenient so I devised a new jig to do the job along with some new techniques for trimming bowls ...
