Working with wood is a process, the more we learn the better we become and the more satisfaction we get which is why "weekend builds" are popular, the often require less wood and less time to make something and in turn we experience the joy of creating.

I think the one thing that attracts me to furniture making is the amazing diverisity in differnt things we can make. There is not question that "seating projects" are more difficult for me, and this project started out that way. The idea came from a picture I had been saving for many years, then I discovered AFTER I built it, that the picure came from woodworking magazine article from decades ago ... but still a lovely project.
My version is similar, but actual measurements are not the same, and there are some design changes I made that I will talk about later on here ...

I keep telling myself I will get around to doing everything, I just need a bit more time, so the last several days I was able cross another item of my list of things to makes ... but this one was special, and experiment of sorts.
I have become more interested in furniture that has a "bit of life to it" as one of my friends described, by that he meant using different species of wood, and colors to make the furniture more interesting. As he described, he was tired of seeing "mono color monoliths" and I had to agree with him, so time for me to step and try some new ideas.

As a woodworker for a long, long time, I have a pretty good idea how long it should take to make most woodworking projects, at least within a certain time frame. Occasionally I am completely and utterly wrong!! and this plant stand was one of those harsh realities.

Three 4 of my collection are letting me know that, so I decided to make a quick little plant stand for them that I could put beside patio doors with lots of light for them. That was my first miscalculation ...

If you are newer to woodworking and are feeling a bit uneasy about installing Soft Close Full Extension Drawer Hardware, this article will show you a few tips along the way that will take away most of that doubt ... hopefully.
The first thing when installing drawers hardware is to either have the hardware in your hands or know for certain what the width of the hardware is, if any, because you will need to know this in order to construct the actual wooden drawers.

I have been putting of upgrading the temporary stand I made for my oscillating sander, for something like 10 years now. Time to get this thing made. During this time I have accumulated a decent amount of "spare" wood including Beech, Oak and Maple that I will be able to use in the making of this stand.
The current stand is all wasted space under the the actual sander, so I decide to install 3 drawers, which will still give me easy access under the sander for cleaning, and it will still allow the stand and sander to be somewhat mobile, but I am not going to install wheels.
