What jig can you make that can do Dados, include stop dados, Rabbets, Fluting, Edging, and even Wainscoting? Yes, this jig can do all this and even more. It's easy to make and can be made a long or as short as you need from cut-off plywood or smaller pre-cut pieces from the lumber store and the only hardware needed is "T Bolts" and some wing nuts to go on them ...

For this build, I started off with the "stop and start" blocks because, from them, the rest of the jig will come together naturally and will depend on the size and base of your hand router as to what size you want to make the jig.

Part 1 - Buildling the Base (the WorkbenchTop is further down this page)
I.m sure there is nothing more personal to a woodworker than their own workbench. I have never seen 2 the same unless they were purchased from a pre-manufactured company, and I have only ever seen a few of those. Everyone has their own special requirements and I am no different. The workbench I have been using was built as a "temporary workbench" over 20 years ago, so it's time to build my dream workbench.

When I scoured the Internet looking at workbenches, I was trying to find workbenches made from plywood and there are very few of them. I had an idea for using plywood that I could make a workbench that was very strong yet much lighter than usual and still offer all the advantages of much heavier workbenches ... but mine would have wheels and be easy to move around the workshop.

We all hate accidents in the workshop, even small ones like cuts and bruises. As much as I work to avoid even these, I still end up with the odd one but my awareness is getting keener to things that can go wrong because it's something I have tried to train myself to look for ... I surely don't get all of them, but I still work at trying to recognize problems before they amount to something.

Jointers can be one of the most frustrating tools to set up and to use, and sometimes it isn't even the machine, sometimes it's the wood that's the problem all along, but we blame it on the machine or how we set up the jointer. In this article, I will be talking about using the jointer, and referring back to an older video and article I made on setting jointer knives if that is the information you are looking for. Both of these articles and videos are important to understanding ... AND getting good results.
