What an amazing tool!!! We milled our own timber for our rafters and post and beam barn structure which built on our property here in Ireland. We choose to use gussets made from birch plywood which were nailed and glued to the rafter trusses, which were made in a jig to keep everything fitting nice and tight.

I constructed a 12 x 16 shed with a hip roof. All of the dimensions were perfect.
I used the framing calculator as well as the
hip roof calculator from the Blocklayer.com website.
All of the dimensions were exact. The Blocklayer.com calculators saved me quite a bit of time. It was a tremendous help.

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I found your stair calculator incredibly useful.
My wife and I designed and built a set of stairs for my parents, as their existing stairs were not up to code, and had been badly built. In any event, this was our first set of stairs that we’ve ever built and it’s no easy task for a first timer. I found it so useful to be able to tinker around with potential ideal rises and runs, tread thickness, riser, thicknesses, and nosings and see how it would impact our final product. The end result was honestly fantastic. The stairs are about 1 million times more sturdy than the pre-existing ones and my parents are so incredibly impressed and grateful. I’ve attached some pictures of the project and the final result! Thank you! |

Tight spaces required novel solutions to make these stairs fit in a cottage, where the owner wanted stairs - even if they were steep.
Thanks to your stair calculator, I mocked up the base as well as the stairs in my garage before assembling for transport to the cottage.
The sequence shows marking out housed stringers - the one inch drop from the upper edge of the stringer was to add stability to the tread.
The three step upper step provided the base for the stairs leading to the upper causeway in this cottage. |

We're building a greenhouse, 9' x 10'. We used your site to determine the lengths, measurements, and spacing for the roof components and rafters.
It worked like a charm. We have finished framing and constructing the roof components. The greenhouse is now ready for the exterior clear panels. The two amateurs (including me) in this photo couldn't build a birdhouse, but your site and CAD capabilities made this feasible and very fun. Thank you for your support. Respectfully, David |

Hi, I’ve been building this gazebo in my spare time after work and at weekends.

I work for a fence company and build a lot of Spiral Staircases.
I used to do all the math by hand with a sheet of paper. For the last 3 years I have used blocklayer.com and it has saved me hours of math and questioning my math!

12/12 pitch at the overhang. 24/12 from wall plate to break, 6/12 at the top 14'x 20' with single 8'x7' door 8' p.t. fence boards for vertical reverse board/batten siding 2x6 p.t. fascia w/12" overhang at eaves and 8" at gables. |

I built a curved garden bench using the kerfing calculator to form the internal scaffold and the capping timber.
The round table the cat is enjoying also employed kerfing for the supporting structures. |

These rafters were over 24’ and required splicing. Using the calculator results, it was easy to schedule the required materials.
