Hi,
I've just joined up and so thought I'd post an introduction of my myself.
I am now 24 years old and have been working with wood since 2003, I have done an apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery achieveing an NVQ Level 2.
During my apprenticeship and after qualifying I worked with a company producing bespoke joinery, windows and doors that sort of thing, which was quite good work really.
I felt a change of direction in 2010 and so joined a cabinet making company, where I worked on some very high quality jobs and also went out on site fitting & inspecting completed work. Unfortunatley as with almost everything in this current recession, they went bump 9 months after joining them, which left me unemployed.
However I quickly found work else where (24hours later to be precise!) and I still work there now. My main role is as woodworking machinist, but I do slot into the company wherever needed when nessecary. We produce SIPS Structually Insulated Panel Systems. Our main line of business is in agriculuture, creating buildings for pigs. Although we do also create houses and schools, but it seems the technology isn't that sought after in modern building methods.
I hope that gives you all a bit of info on my background, and I hope you can help me on any queries I may have in the future, vice-a-versa.
I have a website with pictures, projects and work-in-progresses on if you are interested at
