calblacksmith It is always fun for me to watch metal work, after all, I am a blacksmith. File making is a very old process.

A personal view of mine is that while I can see the craftsmanship in hand work, that alone does not make the item better, just more expensive.

This is something I deal with daily. People ask me to make things for them that they can buy at a big box store then they are taken aback when my price is much higher. Yes my quality will be higher than something from China but so will be my price.

When it comes to something like files, mass produced files from a good quality company will be every bit as good or better than a craftsman making one by hand, and they will cost a lot less.
It is fun to watch though.
